Connect is a team made up of organizations that provide services to individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

         

The centre is a single point of entry for individuals requiring support, and enables individuals to access the wide range of services available in Calgary.

                                                                                                                                                   

  • For individuals affected by domestic violence or sexual assault, finding the right support is not always easy. When individuals in need face obstacles and barriers to getting help, the chances of giving up increase.

 

  • By making one phone call to Connect, individuals are provided with the personal and confidential assistance they need to be able to access the wide range of excellent services that are available in Calgary.

 

  • Connect provides support to any individual affected by the various forms of domestic violence/abuse and sexual assault/abuse. This includes friends, family and other support people.

 

  • Any individual can contact Connect by telephone for support or to book an appointment. Connect is centrally located downtown at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre. It is accessible via public transit.

Twenty-two per cent of perpetrators were reported to police during the 11 year period of the study. That leaves a hefty 78 per cent of spousal abuse that goes unreported.
