Caseworker Support Volunteer 

Purpose:  

To assist HomeFront’s court caseworkers in providing support and follow-up to clients/complainants attending court, helping to ensure clients’ needs for information are met.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

  • To attend docket court 412 (9:00 am – 12:00 pm), and/or trial court in the afternoon (1:30 pm -4pm) and provide support to HomeFront’s court caseworkers in their work with clients.
  • Identify and greet clients (victims) as they enter the courtroom. 
  • Support clients by sitting with them during trial.
  • Follow-up on outstanding warrant files by phoning victims to determine their current status (up to date contact information, relationship/communication with accused, risk assessment and safety planning).     

 


Commitment Requirements:  

One three hour shift per week and a minimum six month commitment  

 

Orientation and Training:  

 

  • HomeFront Orientation and Domestic Violence Overview.
  • Condensed court training, risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Ongoing agency training and volunteer meetings. 

 

 

Supervision:

Court Team Supervisor

 

Security Requirements:   

An in-depth security clearance (CCIS Application) and an Intervention Record Check (Alberta Children’s Services) are required.
