HomeFront Stop The Tears Gala
A Benefit Concert Featuring
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
Tuesday, September 16th, 2008
The Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium
Big Girls Don’t Cry is one of many top 40 hits from The Four Seasons. The song was written by longtime band member Bob Gaudio after watching the 1955 movie Tennessee's Partner in which Rhonda Fleming's character responded to a slap in the face by saying, "Big girls don't cry." Those words stuck with Gaudio.
Today this type of behavior is recognized as abusive and when reported, leads to criminal charges being laid.
The reality is that big girls (children and some men, too) do cry and they have compelling reasons to do so. Last year alone, there were 6 domestic homicides in Calgary and the Calgary Police Service responded to approximately 12,000 domestic-related incidents laying criminal charges in more than 3,000 of those cases.
HomeFront invites you to join us September 16th, 2008 for a benefit concert to help end domestic violence and stop the tears. The enclosed information will help you decide how you can best become involved in this evening of fun and entertainment. Your contribution will provide hope and help individuals and families develop the skills they need to achieve healthier futures and become productive members of society.
