Victim Assistant Unit & Domestic Conflict Unit
Calgary Police Service's Domestic Conflict Unit reviews all domestic violence reports. Risk assessments are conducted whenever charges are laid. Officers perform thorough investigations to increase the Crown's ability to successfully prosecute cases.
The Victim Assistant Unit attempts to contact victims once a police report is filed. They supply the court with victim impact statements and can also accompany victims through trial if necessary.
